Original Quilt by Sue Spargo
Event Description:

This retreat is for quilters of all levels.

Use your own life experience to create imagery for a ‘Fabric Journal’ quilt.  You will illustrate significant moments in your life with textural fabrics, hand dyed wools, embellishments and ethnic beads.

Sue will help you begin with a textural pieced background and an appliquéd tree.  You will then develop your quilt with other images that tell the story of your own journey. The creative use of leaf and berry imagery will be discussed.

You will learn Sue’s favorite techniques for appliquéing wool, taffeta silk, silk velvet and cotton, as well as the many different ways to machine stitch hand dyed wool and fabrics.  Instruction for adding dimension to your quilts with couching, embroidery stitches, and words will also be explored.  You will finish with a design for the outer border that will enhance your quilt.
