  • Learn to identify spongy moth egg masses

  • Survey spongy moth egg masses to predict defoliation 

  • Destroy egg masses

  • Trap tiny caterpillars soon after they hatch: Make a sticky barrier band  

  • Trap larger caterpillars as they crawl up the trunk to feed: Make a burlap band trap
