This sculpture reflects the unique spirit, natural beauty, and historic legacy of Madeline
Island. It depicts a white crane (Ajijjaak) rising from the red earth, representing the
strong connection to the land over time and cultures. The crane is a universal symbol of
living in harmony with others.
