Experience the vibrant culture and rich artistic traditions of the Ojibwe. Watch as Indigenous artists showcase their incredible skills and knowledge of traditional techniques and contemporary styles. Engage with the artists as they explore their creative process and interact with guests. Gordon Coons Join Gordon Coons at the Madeline Island Museum where he will demonstrate his art of printmaking and teach you how to make a print! Gordon Coons' heritage is Ojibwa from Lake Superior Chippewa Band of Wisconsin and Ottawa from Michigan. Now living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Gordon is an enrolled member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe of northern Wisconsin. Gordon is a self taught artist, creating works in a variety of mediums including linoleum block prints, paintings, pen and ink, creations in stone and wood and assembled sculptures. Although his artwork is more contemporary, each piece portrays a unique view of traditional native stories.
