Job Expectations/ Job Description for Woods Hall Gallery and Studio ManagerSalary Position
Position Overview:
The Woods Hall Gallery and Studio Manager supports the mission of Woods Hall on Madeline Island by:
- managing Woods Hall retail and Gallery operations
- working with the Artisan Management Committee (AMC) in designing and maintaining merchandise presentation within the Woods Hall Gallery
- overseeing Woods Hall’s social media channels, marketing and sales communications
- promoting online sales via website and social media
- effectively managing retail/Gallery expenses
- grant writing, oversight, and reporting
- communicating with artists, Board, volunteers, donors, and customers
- overseeing the Gallery’s cleanliness
- The Woods Hall Gallery and Studio Manager will:
- meet bi-monthly with Board chair
- plan and co-Lead (with the AMC manager) the monthly Artisan Management Committee meetings
- provide written report monthly to the board and attend monthly board meetings
- recruit, support and effectively manage Woods Hall volunteers
- effectively train and supervise cashiers/gallery assistant regarding standards and expectations of customer service
- be proficient in the use of tablet and Square System and train others to use with proficiency
- communicate effectively with studio managers and artists
- communicate with donors and customers
- liaise with bookkeeper and treasurer regarding budget and finances
- serve as cashier as needed, especially weekends and high season
- facilitate regular sales deposits into bank account
- facilitate/maintain record keeping of artisan volunteer hours (for commission tracking purposes)
- in collaboration with studio managers, develop and support Woods Hall programming (e.g., demonstrations, classes, workshops, mentorships); Assist studio managers with publicity, class sign up and record keeping, etc.
- manage in-kind donations and be familiar with and support Woods Hall donor database (Little Green Light)
- contribute to website and work with website developer
- manage email and phone communication
- Experience required:
- retail management
- staff supervision
- computer proficiency (i.e., Square and word processing, ability to learn and manage donor database)
- ? web management
- communication skills
- Experience preferred:
- working with nonprofit
- Gallery design
